A wine’s finest ingredient is the honesty of the man who produces it.

U’Francisi

Viticulture on Mt. Etna is still studied only in minimal part. In the many old vineyards it is possible to find an incredible variety of varietals growing side by side. A century ago there were at least forty native varieties on the volcano.

The vines that came from outside and whose name was unknown to the Etnean wine growers were labeled generically as u’francisi (“the French one”), with highest disregard of the science of ampelography – and also of the true geographical origin, as not all of these varietals come from France.
