A wine’s finest ingredient is the honesty of the man who produces it.
From “La montagna di fuoco” by Salvo Foti
Each year the various owners of the Etna vineyards cultivated by I Vigneri contribute a quota of grapes to the workers to make a wine for their personal consumption. These grapes - local varieties Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio - now go into producing Etna Rosso DOC I Vigneri.
This is a genuine, unpretentious wine, made in concrete vats without refrigeration and without ageing in wooden casks. No refrigeration, yeasts or filtration are used in the wine making process. Decanting and bottling follow the phases of the moon.
